About Us
Our idea of a “campervan rental company” originated on a skin track in the central Wasatch around 2010. With full time jobs, weekend adventures skiing, biking, and climbing were made easier by loading up the dogs, turning the key, and hitting the road in our version 1.0 Chevy Express on Friday afternoons. A friend pointed out, “There’s a business opportunity here.”
In 2012, we launched with several units, overcoming many of the regulatory challenges that existed in a pre peer-to-peer business environment — the bankers and insurance types didn’t know what to make of us. But we found the right people and made it work. By 2014, bye-bye day jobs, full time Basecamper Vans.
Because playing with power tools is fun, we expanded the business to offer build services by bringing on a ski buddy with some serious carpentry chops. Finding many people are reluctant to cut holes in their brand new Sprinter van, if you live in SLC, you’ve likely seen our work.
Through our rentals and builds, we aim to share our love of the outdoors.

When we aren’t riding dual sport bikes or indulging our dogs, we’re in our shop, located in Salt Lake City, Utah around 2100 South and Trax. This is where we greet renters and work on builds.
If you want to stop by, it’s best to make an appointment — if it’s snowing, the door is locked, and the lights are off, use your imagination.
